Bricoleur Vineyards Estate Olive Oil

Sonoma County Olive Oil with European Roots

Bricoleur Vineyards strives to craft the best olive oil in Sonoma County, California, that honors the extra virgin olive oil making traditions of both Italy and Spain. While our vineyards take center stage for much of the year, olive harvest follows soon after.

We’ve planted over 200 olive trees across our Russian River Valley estate. With sunny days and cooler nights, Sonoma County shares a similar climate to the Mediterranean region of Europe including countries like Spain and Italy. These regions, as well as our own, are perfect for growing both wine grapes and olives, giving us a little slice of Europe here in Sonoma County. Our olive grove includes Italian varietals like Leccino, Frantoio, and Pendolino, as well as Spanish Arbequina olive trees.

Each Autumn, once the grape harvest is behind us and the air begins to chill, we turn our focus to olives. Harvest typically takes place in late autumn when the fruit reaches its peak ripeness. Our team handpicks the olives over the span of a few days before bringing them to Olivino, a certified organic olive mill just north of Windsor in the town of Hopland.

Within just 12 hours of harvesting, the olives are cold-pressed to ensure freshness. The oil is never heated or filtered during the milling process. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the only cooking oil crafted without the use of chemicals and industrial refining. This method preserves the purity of the oil and honors the traditional techniques that define extra virgin olive oil. After pressing, the oil rests for two months before being hand-bottled and labeled by the team at Olivino in small batches. It’s a labor of love from start to finish.

Our Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a deep, golden hue and rich texture, thanks to the full ripeness achieved from a later harvest. Pretty aromas of butter and dried grass lead to a round, full palate with notes of dried grass and marcona almonds. The finish is smooth with lingering hints of white pepper. It’s the kind of olive oil that can elevate anything it touches – from a simple salad to fresh baked bread or a bowl of warm pasta.

For us, our olive oil isn’t just a product – like wine, it’s a way to appreciate the moments that bring people together around the table.
