2018 Rosé of Pinot Noir

  • Tasting Notes

The structure and style is based on the Rosés of Provence; classic, light, elegant, and delicate. The first thing you notice about the Bricoleur Vineyards Rosé is its beautiful light-salmon hue. The wine has a supple texture and crisp minerality. Notes of peach and yellow plum are accented by bright acidity and Meyer lemon, leading to an elegant finish. It is produced from 100% Russian River Valley appellation estate-grown Pinot Noir.

  • Vineyard Notes

Harvest 2018 was a record-breaking year for winemaking in Sonoma County and provided Bricoleur Vineyards with an amazing vintage of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The estate grapes are grown in accordance with the best farming practices established by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.

The 2018 growing season was optimal with cool nights and warm days which allowed for a longer growing season for the Pinot Noir grapes. At the beginning of September, the Pinot Noir for our Rosé was picked at the optimum Brix level on the night of September 10th. Pushing harvest to the middle of September allowed the grapes to develop more intense flavors and greater depth of fruit. Even though the berries were smaller, the weight of the clusters, and the resulting flavors, broke the record books!

  • Winemaking Notes

This vintage of Rosé is made from estate-grown Pinot Noir, which is sustainably farmed in the Russian River Valley appellation. The hand-picked fruit was carefully selected and night-harvested at the exact moment when the fruit reached the right maturity and acid levels to craft an elegant, delicate style of Rosé. The grapes were delivered to Punchdown Cellars on the morning of September 10, 2018.

The grapes were whole cluster pressed until the perfect color was achieved. The resulting Pinot Noir juice was settled for two days in a stainless tank and went through a three-week cool fermentation process. After fermentation, the juice was transferred to 75-gallon stainless barrels and left to age sur lie for six months. The Rosé was filtered and bottled on February 20, 2019.
