Meatball Sandwich w/ Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, and Fresh Basil

For the Meatballs
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork
6 garlic cloves (minced)
1/2 white onion (minced)
2 eggs
4 tbsp water
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp black pepper
1 cup chopped basil
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
parchment paper
large baking tray
non stick cooking spray
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Place all ingredients into mixing bowl and use your hands to incorporate them
Form 2” meatballs
Put meatballs on a plate, and place in freezer for 10 minutes
Line a baking tray with parchment paper
Spray parchment paper lined baking tray with non stick cooking spray
Line meatballs on to baking tray
Put into oven, and bake for 25-27 minutes
For the Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
1 large can of chopped tomatoes
4 garlic cloves (minced)
1/4 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
1/8 cup parmesan cheese
1 handful chopped basil
1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
Heat up a sauté pan on medium to high heat
Add 1 tbsp olive oil, and add the minced garlic
Cook for 2-3 minutes
Add the can of crushed tomatoes
Cook for 20 minutes on low heat
Add the parmesan cheese, ricotta cheese, and chopped basil
Whisk and cook for another 10 minutes on low heat
Assembly
Ingredients
4 kaiser rolls or héro rolls
12 cooked meatballs
1 pot of tomato sauce
8-10 fresh basil leaves
8 slices of mozzarella cheese
Directions
In a pot, heat up the tomato sauce
Add the cooked meatballs to the tomato sauce
Make sure its very hot
Slice your roll in half
Place 3 meatballs onto the bottom of the roll
Add a nice spoonful of tomato sauce on top of meatballs
Add 2 slices of cheese on top of meatballs
Place onto a baking sheet
Use the broil setting on the oven to melt the cheese well
Add some fresh basil and place the top bun on top
